Time: Fall 2023

Place: Otaniemi Campus, Espoo and the Winter Workshop in Hanasaari Cultural Centre, Espoo

Instructors: Associate Professor Petri Jylhä (Aalto University), Professor Samuli Knüpfer (Aalto University) and GSF Director Mikko Leppämäki (Aalto University)

Objectives: The Academic Writing and Paper Presentation Clinic will be completed by presenting a paper at the GSF Winter Workshop and by participating in the GSF Paper Presentation and Academic Writing events. The paper presentation event (organized a day prior to the workshop) is a forum for students to rehearse and refine their presentation techniques. Feedback and insights from instructors and fellow participants enable students to improve their presentations for the Winter Workshop. This event ultimately seeks to empower students with improved seminar and conference presentation skills, aiding their future academic endeavours. The Academic Writing Clinic consists of two sessions scheduled for November 9 and December 14. These sessions provide guidance to enhance your academic writing skills, with a focus on effectively communicating the significance of your research. Improving your writing proficiency requires practice, feedback, and active engagement in the writing process. During the clinic, students will refine their papers with guidance from instructors and peers. The clinic's primary goal is to promote clear and efficient writing, ensuring that fellow researchers can readily comprehend and appreciate your work, thereby increasing the accessibility of your paper.
